TIA Tribes 2 History

How do you summarize a game with 2 seperate gaming divisions that lasted for 3 and half years? Maybe that's a good place to start.

Around March of 2001, TIA was going through a transition period from Tribes 1 to the new, highly anticipated Tribes 2. Expectations were very high for this game... and so were the hardware requirements. This resulted in official competition not starting until late July, but a lot of us knew we were hooked despite the poor, buggy launch.

Our very first match with the TWL 12-man Base was on July 24th, 2001. We played Ahriman Corps and showed them the way in the world of Tribes.

TIA Wins
Map Scores:
Katabatic 5-0
Firestorm 8-0

Actual screenshots of the first match are available: Map 1 & Map 2.

Many fun times and memorable matches happened for us on our time on the TWL 12-man Base ladder. Here are some additional facts from the Base team's run on TWL.

Final TWL 12-man record - 38-27

Last losing record - 9-10 (given to us by AFT on 3/16/2002 ... as you recall, they were/are whiny assholes and a lot of their former members are known cheaters now... hmmm)

Biggest Winning Streak - 9 (1/19/2003 - 3/30/2003)
Biggest Losing Streak - 6 (11/17/2002 - 1/12/2003)

So yes... our biggest losing streak was followed by our biggest winning streak. Incidently, the start of our winning streak was against AC. Maybe we should play them more often, as they started good things. :)

We took #1 on the ladder on 2/16/2003 against Renegade Horsemen aka Ni4Ni (if you're a good observer, this was during our win streak).

Map scores:
Drifts(x2) 2-0
WoodyMyrk(x2) 8-2

We defended the rung successfully 4 times until defeated by the Punk Rawk Kittens on 3/30/2003 (end of winning streak). The ladder was closed on 8/20/2003.

With a will to continue playing Tribes 2 in the base setting(at least for the first 2 seasons), TIA seeked membership to the Blood Eagle Mini League (BEML). This turned out to be a nice experience for TIA's players with a different enviroment based upon good sportsmanship.

BEML Season 8 (First TIA Season)

First match in BEML was against the Blood Eagle Elders {BEE}

TIA Wins
Map Scores:
Pandemonium(x2) - 7-0
Beggar's Run - 5-0
TWL-Slapdash - 0-6

We ended up 3rd in our division and was elminated in the 1st round of the playoffs by -=Ao=-.

Season 8 final record - (W/L/D) - 9/9/3

BEML Season 9 (Second TIA Season)

We ended up 2nd in our division and was elminated in the 1st round of the playoffs by =dRATs=.

Season 9 final record - (W/L/D) - 9/6/0

BEML Season 10 (Final TIA Season)

Sadly, the will to be competitive was extremely low during this season and the needed effort to be successful in a game full of veterans was not there.

However, this final season proved what type of players make up TIA... willing to play and have fun despite having no success. Also, showing we're willing to keep our commitment to the league and to each other by finishing out the season.

Season 10 final record - (W/L/D) - 0/18/0
No playoffs were played.

Statistics of the base matches can be found at stats.tribe-tia.org and our record map by map can be found in this forum thread.

TIA also had a classic division on TWL's 7-man ladder. GABRIEL headed this up and with 2 seperate runs. The first run happened during some downtime after the TWL 12-man ladder closed and the start of the BEML days.

7-man classic team's first match was on 7/8/2003 against T|C.

TIA Wins
Map Scores:
Minotaur 7-8
Katabatic(x2) 7-6 (in OT)
Boss(x2) 7-4

Final Record: 4-5

The second run of the 7-man classic division occured during the summer of 2004. This run was more significant, because it brought in some more solid players and great people to the TIA family :)

Final Record: ???

Classic Stats

Overall, TIA's Tribes 2 experience has been very memorable and a lot of fun for over 3 years!
