Information and Policies
Organizational Rational and Structure
1. The leadership within TIA currently consists of 3 tiers. At the top is a governing council that oversees the gaming operations. Below that are the various division leaders who manage the daily operations of each specific game. Finally, Master Seargents are appointed by the division leaders for their division. Master Seargent's appointment and dismissal can be performed soley by the division leaders.
- Responsibilities of the council are:
1. Creating new game divisions
2. Making decisions on organizational membership, conduct, and dismissal
3. Maintaining our web assets and servers
4. Providing new direction for the organization
- Responsibilities of the division leaders:
1. Developing a leadership plan for new divisions
2. Recruiting and dismissing game division members
3. Maintaining a team in a competitive ladder or league
4. Organizing competative events with practices, scrims, strategies or position assignments
5. Promoting Master Sergeants for their division
2. Division leaders may be one or more persons who collectively work together to organize a game division. Division leaders may subsequently recruit other players to join them at the same rank of division leader, with the approval of the governing council. If multiple division leaders exist, they must be able to effectively work together as a governing body to solve internal problems and make decisions.
3. The role of the Master Seargent is to be a helping hand for the division leaders and to carry out tasks appointed to them. The Master Seargent DOES NOT have leadership authority except when specifically given to them by a division leader or when an emergency situation exists due to the absense of a division leader.
4. All members are expected to help recruit new members. However, only the division leaders can accept new members for their particular game division. Please direct all potential members to our webpage to fill out an application in the appropriate area.
5. Anything a governing council member (Prometheus, Dr Moocowz, or Quarmal) says is to be followed as given at any time. Suggestions are always welcome if presented in a respectful manner.
6. Starting a new game division in TIA may be done by any member, as long as a proper amount of support has been shown for it and a formal, organized leadership plan has been approved by the governing council.
7. Once a game division has been approved, the division leaders will work with the website admin (Dr Moocowz) and the governing council to get everything rolling.
Membership Benefits
1. Welcome to the family. A mix of fun and competative gaming in a small group setting.
2. Perks like admission to game specific private forums, free use of teamspeak server, an @tribe-tia.org email address and more.
3. Security. Once a member has been accepted into TIA, no matter what game division, they will be protected within the organization until the governing council says otherwise. So this means that a division captain could kick you off their team, but that doesn't mean the person is kicked out of TIA! You are NOT out of TIA until the governing council says so!
4. Complete and total ownage. Your wife/girlfriend/mom will be astounded at your newfound, badass teammates.
Rules of Conduct
1. ABSOLUTELY NO racist/sexist comments or stereotypical remarks. The Insane Asylum is built off of respect with people all over the world and of all ages, races, and genders. Please recognize and respect this. There will be little to zero tolerance to this.
2. Read Rule #1 again!!
3. Respect all players. This includes your competition and your teammates.
4. Cheating or the use of cheats in any |TIA| division will NOT be tolerated. If you're not sure if something you have is a cheat, contact your division leader to get clarification. Your actions will be watched at all times, even in public servers, so watch yourself.
5. While playing in competative matches, wearing the |TIA| tag or representing our gaming organization, behave yourself! Don't do obnoxious, immature, and antisocial things like purposefully TK'ing (team killing), shooting at players in inv/ammo stations, picking on newbies, etc. Treat other players and teams with respect and you will be respected for that. Bottom line: Don't be an asshole.
6. Stay in contact and be responsible. If for any reason you need to cease playing with TIA temporarily, alert your game division leaders or the governing council, via email or forum. If you disappear, then your right as a member of TIA to take part in any planned event may also disappear.
7. Psychological disorders do not excuse lapses in conduct, despite our name "The Insane Asylum". Trust us, it's happened before :(.
8. Most importantly: HAVE FUN! |TIA| is as much a social organization as it is a gaming community.
Maintaining TIA Membership
To maintain membership in The Insane Asylum, one of the following conditions must be true:
1. Be an active member in any of TIA's current divisions. Active member is defined as being listed on the TIA Roster and having at least one of TIA's current divisions your name.
OR
2. Log into the TIA Forum with your username once a year.
At the beginning of every month, a query will be ran on the current membership of members listed on the TIA Roster. Any member who is not currently part of any division and has not logged in within the past year of the query date, will be removed from TIA. Example: The query is ran on July 1, 2008. Any member who is not part of a division and has last logged in prior to July 1, 2007 will be removed from TIA.
We want to maintain a great community of people for current and future divisions, but we also need a method for removing members who do not seem to be interested in keeping up with TIA's activities, both for the community's benefit and to ease burden on the TIA administration for trying to keep track of our many members. Logging into the website at a rate of at least once a year is more than reasonable to show continuing interest in TIA.
If you're a former member who was removed from TIA by this policy and want to be a TIA member again, contact any or all members of the Governing Council. You will likely be reinstated of your TIA membership.
