New to the game?

Look Out!! you are the most hated creature in online gaming. You are the newbie. A large section of the experienced online gamers dislike the newbie for one reason or another, but what would the game be without new blood? These people are often just elitist, don't want to be bothered, and don't represent even a fraction the whole community of gamers. Without newbies, a game will die, so don't let anyone tell you that you are not important in the overall scheme of online gaming. If you are new to one of these games and you are looking to become better you have many options.

First: Do NOT just jump on a server and start playing, unless you know it is a newbie server. Most games have offline versions, it is best to get the basics down offline or in tutorials than to get online and piss everyone off. At least learn the basics and take the tutorial before venturing online.

Second: Everyone is a newbie at one point in their life, don't sweat it. Learn the game on your own time and when you get online, you will be able to make a difference for your team. If someone is giving you lip about being a newbie or just giving you a hard time, best course of action is to either ignore them or mute them. This still is an option even to experienced veterans in online games :).

Third: Many gaming sites offer demos you can watch of experienced players that can help you better grasp the game. There are also forums on this and other sites that will take you to gamers who know many answers to most questions.

Lastly: There are other resources at your finger tips that will help you along. Go to the Forum section of this site and post your question in the general section, there are many people who know what they are talking about and will be happy to help. TIA and many people in the gaming community are set up just to help the new player. We're always glad to help where we can or at minimum point you to somebody who knows what you're looking for.

Most of all have fun, that's what its all about in the end!
